Steve Jobs Quote On Death

I've been reading a lot of tributes to Steve Jobs today and I ran across a blog with the following quote from Jobs' Stanford commencement address:

"No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away.

Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true. Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

Why do we settle for ordinary or routine? Why do we care what mediocre people say about our dreams and aspirations out of their own fear and jealousies. Don't live for fear of what your critics will say, but live as if your days are numbered and always remember you were put on this earth for a reason.

Fandy Webcasts Kick Off Friday

Fandy.comFandy.com will begin webcasting area high school football games this fall starting with the Fremont Ross at Sandusky contest on Friday night. I'm proud to be serving as the play-by-play voice for this inaugural season on Fandy.

All Friday games will be tape delayed due to OHSAA limitations, however, Fandy will feature live broadcasts on Saturday night throughout the season. The first live game will be on Saturday when Sandusky St. Mary travels to Norwalk St. Paul.

Time For A Change

FandyAfter spending the last twenty years broadcasting high school football on the radio I’ve decided to make a change this fall.

I’ll be the play-by-play voice for the Internet video broadcasts being produced by the Sandusky Register. It’s an exciting change that I’m looking forward to and a medium that no one has attempted in this market.

Our Friday and Saturday broadcasts will center on the Sandusky Bay Conference, Northern Ohio League and Firelands Conference.  The kick-off will be Friday August 26 on Fandy.com.

Watch our broadcast of the 2011 Sandusky Bay Conference vs. Suburban Lakes League All-Star game by clicking here.

Friday Nights On The Radio

Sandusky Blue StreaksAs many of you know, in addition to owning and operating My80sMix.com, I broadcast high school football games for K96 in Sandusky, Ohio.

My mom’s alma mater, Sandusky High School, won their first playoff football game in twenty years last Friday. The Blue Streaks won in exciting fashion 42-35 over Avon, who was ranked number two in the state prior to the game.

I love broadcasting Sandusky games because it takes me back to my childhood when my grandpa would take me to see the Streaks play at Strobel Field in the late 70s and early 80s.

Catch my broadcast of this historic win by clicking here.

You can hear this week’s playoff game with Maple Heights live on K96 or wkfm.com. The broadcast starts at 7p Eastern on Friday night.
